Does Ace3ds plus support 3DS v8.0.0-18?

Nintendo 3DS has updated to v8.0.0-18. After test, no flashcart is blocked by this new system, ace3ds plus also work on 3DS v8.0.0-18. But some gamers can’t make ace3ds plus work on 3DS/XL v8.0. There are two reasons, wrong steps or the card issue. Normally, the ace3ds plus will work. Here is my test result.

First, put the kernel and .nds game in the TF card (FAT32), insert TF card into ace3ds plus, then put them into 3DS/XL v8.0.0-18.

Which flashcart can work on 3DS v8.0.0-18?

3DSV8.0.0-18

3DS system has updated to v8.0.0-18, which flashcart can work on it? Let’s list it.

First, r4i gold 3ds rts. The most popular flashcart, support to all console, NDS, DSi/XL/LL, 2DS, 3DS/XL/LL.

Second, DStwo. It is the most powerful card, is a little expensive, but support all console and never be blocked. DStwo is the only card that support GBA games on DSi and 3DS, need no ez flash 3in1.

Third, ace3ds plus. It’s a hot card too, if you are new to flashcart, ace3ds plus is a good choice for you to enter flashcart world quickly.

In addition, r4i sdhc 3ds rts, r4i sdhc rts lite, r4i sdhc dual core, r4i gold pro all support 3DS v8.0.0-18 (J/U/E). In short, the 3DS new system doesn’t block any flashcart,  if your card support 3DS v7.2.0-17, it also support 3DS v8.0.0-18.

How about the 3DS flashcart, well, they still only support 3DS v4.1-v4.5. But don’t worry, the gateway team is struggling on getting next firmware, maybe something about 3DS v8.0.0. Hopefully be so.

Nintendo 3DS firmware update to v8.0.0-18

Nintendo 3DS firmware update to v8.0.0-18 on 7th July 2014. Here is the details.

Change log:
Main changes for version 8.0.0-18U
Update released: July 7th, 2014
Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

There is no much information about the firmware, so which card can work with the new firmware? DStwo has been confirmed still work with it, r4i gold 3ds rts can work too, ace3ds plus and r4i sdhc 3ds, r4i dual core, r4i sdhc lite rts, r4i gold pro is under testing. This firmware seems to be a tiny change, some gamers say that there’s no major changes or new features, it should be v7.3 not v8.0 and no one knows really whats different yet, it just came out.

Until now, all 3DS flashcart still can not support 3DS games on 3DS above v4.1-v4.5. When playing 3DS games with gateway, MT card or r4i gold 3ds deluxe edition, please be careful and not to update your console. However, 3DS update its firmware again, seems all NDS flashcart still work, we will keep posting the news.

Gateway 3DS will be running 7.x games and 7.x applications soon!

The Gateway 3DS official site updates news: STATUS UPDATE: 7.x. Here is the site details.

” We have recently reached a major milestone regarding the 7.x encryption. We can say with certainty that we will soon be running 7.x games and 7.x applications (like eShop, PokeBank and YouTube) in our labs.

We can already say that this will be possible with the current gateway hardware and will be supported in the form of a regular firmware update.

Some people might think we’re overcautious with releasing new firmware updates and holding stuff back.

But we would like to reiterate once again that quality assurance and smooth product experience is on the top of our lists. We really take our time to test everything as much as we can.

There’s a bunch of other (interesting) developments going on besides the 7.x encryption fix at the moment; but we will brief you guys about them in a later (more lengthy) news update. Most questions we get at the moment are 7.x related, so this one will be released out as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience once again. ”

It’s not a long time since last update, gateway 3DS team always keep effort. To gamers, we can play v7.x games with gateway 3DS soon. If  you don’t have gateway 3DS and you are interested in this card, it maybe a nice choice to get one.
